The Department of Pediatrics has an opening for an Assistant Professor. We are particularly interested in candidates with training and expertise in pediatric palliative care.
Qualifications:Successful candidates will have shown outstanding devotion to and care of chronically and critically ill children. Particular emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s communication skills and ability to work with children and families and large interdisciplinary teams. Some focus on clinical research and/or quality improvement initiatives is strongly recommended.
Number of months/years of experience required after obtainment of highest degree: 4 years
Special skills required: expertise in evaluation and treatment of physical symptoms in children, expertise in recognizing and treating or referring for treatment children and families experiencing emotional, social and spiritually suffering. Skills and training in communication: delivering bad news, organizing and mediating family meetings, supporting staff who care for challenging patients and their families. The candidate should be board eligible/certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Minimum Education Requirements - list level of education and field(s) acceptable:
Pediatric or family medicine residency
Hospice and palliative medicine fellowship
