Candidates should be graduates of a three-year professional training program in acupuncture which includes both theory and hands-on clinical practice. Must also have a minimum of 2 years of college education. Must also complete Clean Needle Technique training. Must be licensed in New York State.
Responsibilities include developing plan of care for patient treatment to related biological, physiological, and social signs and symptoms associated with the diagnosis, prognosis of the patient's condition.
Monitors the patient's functional abilities and disabilities; applies application of various measures and test.
Obtains supportive information from other sources, e.g. family members, coaching staff, nursing staff, etc.
Provides acupuncture services consistent with the established plan of care and within the scope of practice.
Recommends to patient, and or physician (when applicable) modification of the treatment plan or program as needed.
Provides treatments, using a variety of procedures and therapies within the acupuncture scope of practice.
Instructs patient and family in use of equipment and techniques and counsels to ensure understanding and acceptance.
Assures appropriate safety practices and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Assists in planning for the patients discharge.
Abides by universal precautions for disease transmission prevention, and follows the principles of the clean needle technique certification.
Ensures that all patients read, sign, and receive a copy of the disclosure of acupuncture services, and instructions to consult a physician regarding their condition.
