Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Job Requirements:

Under minimal direction and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, Applies technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support the hospital’s clinical/quality data and reporting needs.

Duties/Specific Responsibilities:

Facilitate activities related to clinical data management, analysis, and reporting.

  • Advise and guide clinical departments to ensure quality data reports accurately reflect what the requestor needs.

  • Acts as liaison between physician/department/teams and analyst/programmers to meet clinical information needs.

  • Perform quality control activities on reporting packages, e.g., UPP, OPPE.

Develop reports that benchmark our clinical care against other hospitals (e.g., Vizient and US News).

  • Coordinates and supports quality management initiatives, provide supporting data for hospital’s management plan goals e.g., weekly harm report, annual resident safety event reporting.

  • Support departmental data needs for Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement annual plans.

Works with Associate Quality Officers and other Assistant Quality Officers to ensure that respective areas are integrated effectively

  • Participates in Quality Improvement Coordinating Center meetings and assignments

Participates in SMH and/or Medical Center teams or committees charged with quality and performance improvement efforts.

Collaborates with others both locally and nationally to help advance quality improvement at University of Rochester Medical Center

Performs activities as triaged or delegated by the Chief Quality Officer or Quality Management Team

Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field with 4-5 years of relevant data management experience of equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in use of an electronic health record (EHR). Experience with Epic preferred.

  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office; database management software

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize, use good time management and adhere to deadlines as directed

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; works well in a continuous learning environment

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
