The Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester invites applications for a tenure-track (full time) Director of the Eastman Jazz Ensemble, beginning 1 July 2022. We are seeking a jazz artist/teacher with a national/international reputation. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
Candidates should have outstanding reputations in ensemble directing, contemporary jazz composition/practice, and jazz performance.
Direct the Eastman Jazz Ensemble and chamber jazz groups;
Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in jazz composition and arranging, private lessons in the candidate’s area of expertise, jazz improvisation, history, theory, pedagogy, repertoire, and/or world jazz.
