Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Infectious Diseases Division in the Department of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry is seeking a full-time faculty member to join the current telemedicine team. The faculty member will cover the telemedicine service and urgent care beeper for 36 weeks per year, Monday through Friday 8am to 5 pm, and one half day session per week for telemedicine outpatient follow-ups. The faculty member is expected to present educational sessions as appropriate at affiliate hospitals.

Clinical responsibilities include:

  1. Infectious Diseases inpatient consultations and follow-ups via telemedicine at all affiliate or non-affiliate hospitals which University of Rochester Medical Center has telemedicine agreements with;

  2. Where appropriate, outpatient follow-ups via telemedicine for discharged inpatients;

  3. Responsibility for answering messages on the urgent care beeper;

  4. Supervision of antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention at the affiliate or non-affiliate hospitals which the University of Rochester Medical Center has agreements with. This will include participating in unit rounds discussions at least once a week, attending antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention meetings, collaborating with pharmacy and infection prevention nurse on data collection and analysis, educational interventions, and patient care issues;

  5. Maintaining the log of inpatient consults, follow-ups, and subsequent outpatient visits.

The candidate will be expected to complete the IDSA advanced antimicrobial stewardship curriculum within the first 12 months of employment.

Candidates must have completed fellowship training in Infectious Diseases

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.D. or D.O. Degree or equivalent

  • Eligible for a New York State Medical License

  • Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry

  • Eligible for Board Certification in Infectious Diseases

  • Post offer Drug Screen and Health Assessment required

  • Compliance with University and New York State health requirements
