Responsibilities

The Division of Surgery Research in the Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is seeking to recruit tenure-track faculty at the level of Assistant Professor

Successful candidates are expected to make significant contributions via research, teaching/mentoring, and service in the fields of basic and translational research pertaining to gastrointestinal cancer, and particularly pancreatic cancer. All candidates will be considered.

Successful candidates will demonstrate capacity to acquire extramural funding independently as well as in a team science approach. The faculty member will be an active member of the Wilmot Cancer Institute and will contribute to the overall research goals of Wilmot. The individual must also demonstrate the capacity for excellence in mentoring/teaching post-graduate (including both PhD and MD’s) and graduate trainees as well as students in research as well as the ability to provide community and institutional service and strong passion and capacity to design, conduct, analyze, present and publish research. Current grant funding would demonstrate exceptional qualifications (e.g, NIH K23, K99/R00, etc). All applicants must hold a doctoral degree.

The department and division are fully integrated with overall clinical services as well as clinical and translational research across multiple departments, centers and programs within the University of Rochester Medical Center. The division is home to the University of Rochester Center for Tumor Immunology Research which houses multiple extramurally funded investigators and shared resources to support research work.
