Our philosophy includes beliefs about unification, education, research and scholarly productivity, practice, nursing, consumer, and health.

Our student population often starts at the undergraduate level and accelerates sequentially to other levels; accordingly, faculty are expected to fit their instructional model in concordance with the overarching curriculum and with the understanding that students often learn from more than one instructor and across multiple platforms of delivery. Faculty members use the resources of the School of Nursing to engage, inspire and elevate student learning.

The Unification Model directs nursing education, research, and practice. Unification is not only a philosophical approach but also an organizational structure that operationalizes the interdependence among education, research and practice. Education empowers nurses with knowledge, attitudes, and skills for leadership in professional practice and research. Research develops nursing knowledge to strengthen education and promote evidence-based practice. The practice of nursing is care delivery that promotes continued excellence through the generation of new research questions and the enrichment of the educational experience.
