Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Assists with enterprise-wide technical and user support and implementation of the Supply Chain Management Information Systems and closely integrated financial and clinical applications and projects across the Medical Center, Highland, Strong and affiliate Hospitals and throughout the University. Works with department managers, and staff to facilitate and implement operation workflow changes necessary for successful implementation of the information systems. Provides day-to-day technical application support to managers and staff, with a primary coordination role to represent Supply Chain Management user departments’ operational needs. Assists the Lead Analyst with implementation activities, technical troubleshooting, testing and training functions as a member of the enterprise-wide Project Teams.

Provides data analysis and technical assistance for identification of system requirements, enhancements and setup decisions. Provides assistance with unit and integrated application testing. Assists with development of internal technical documentation, training curriculum and materials, as well as coordinates and provides application training. Functions as a technical liaison and coordinator between Operational application users and the Supply Chain Management Team, especially the Project Director and Lead Analyst. Provide in-depth analysis of User Requirements and develops both functional and technical specifications as part of the process to solve the users' needs. Designs solutions in current environment and creates new applications in new environments, adhering to UIT, ISD and industry best practices and standards.

Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Lead Analyst and the ISD Project Director, conforming to URMC policies but retaining latitude for independent judgment and initiative:

  • Assists with implementation activities for new groups by:

  • Participating in and coordinate workflow analysis through interviews and data gathering with key departmental software users and the software vendor to capture current and future state of workflow, including but not limited to documentation of these workflow analyses. Some regional travel to URMC affiliate sites. Obtain review and approval of the departmental representative of these work flow documents and related decisions to facilitate the software design and building of the databases and data content.

  • Facilitating the application design and database and data content building, to include current process and record incorporation, template setup, report generation, interfaces and data flow to and from other applications etc. Using scripting, Business Object Crystal, SQL, develop custom reports, queries, views and extract when standard reports or vendor supplied functionality do not meet needs. Coordination with key end users to ensure the design and building (creation) of the software meets departmental operational and functional needs.

  • Coordinating project timelines.

  • Provide daily technical application testing, technical specifications documentation, support and training to the end users and super users of the applications. Support includes being in a group rotation to cover on-call support for critical, time-sensitive after-hours needs. Provides on-going application testing of all proposed changes. Creates and maintains unit and integrated testing plans, scripts, results and coordination of approvals for software upgrades. Liaison to application vendor to report all software issues, bugs and enhancement requests and track the progress of these requests and issues.

  • Recommends system database queries and reporting per customer and project team requests.

  • Develops dept. policies and procedures for working in Supply Chain Management

  • Assists department through all phases of technology adoption.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering; and 3-4 years of related experience, preferably 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree related to department specific needs, or Informatics, Data Analytics or Supply Chain Management

  • Project management experience using Agile methodology

  • Business or IT applications experience in related department or facility services

  • Experience with Supply Chain/ERP systems, including EDI, using Allscripts, Meditech, McKesson, Workday, Jaeggar, Epic.

  • Work experience in University, Highland and/or Strong Hospital and related operational processes & policy knowledge preferred. Objective perspective, proactive & detail oriented individual that is self-directed/motivated.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills.

  • Experience using Crystal, MSSQL queries or command line scripting, VB.NET, XAML, Classic VB, Win Forms, WPF, PowerShell, server scripts, and batch files

  • Experience in Software development lifecycle, database administration, ERP-EMR integration and system integration using XML, X12, HL7, EDI file formats.

  • LEAN Practitioner certification

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, analytical reasoning, problem solving and critical thinking required.
