Position Summary:

The Senior Analyst Programmer serves as primary analyst for eRecord Security/SER at URMC and is responsible for effective deployment of eRecord Security/SER including adequate access controls, security/SER reviews for application releases, upgrades, and integration of security controls across eRecord modules. The Senior Analyst Programmer works in conjunction with many others collaborating with HIM, Privacy Office, Application Integration Team, and the eRecord Integrated Build Team in decision making about appropriateness of the request and creating end user security templates. Maintains high level of technical skills. Attends training and educational activities to maintain expertise in rapidly changing environment and utilizes this information to assure effective and efficient technology decisions.


Under direction of Epic/eRecord Security/SER Coordinator, with latitude for independent initiative and problem solving, provides the following services:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data, report details, and technical issues associated with eRecord Security/SER.

  • Work closely with manager, demonstrates effective communication and problem solving skills.

  • Run and maintain imports for mass updates, and exports for extracts.

  • Analyze data conversion needs, and ensure that interfaced data meets security/SER specifications.

  • Implement requested security/SER changes and software updates

  • Analyze new security/SER functionality and enhancements in new releases, test and coordinate implementation.

  • Maintain productivity reports identifying areas of improvement, providing guidance and training, as needed

  • Troubleshoot eRecord access or SER issues; assess incidents and correct provisioning and development and maintenance of the Provider Master Index within URMC’s systems.

  • Maintain security matrix/template to learning plan.

Develop integrated strategies

  • Coordinate and maintain the design, creation, and implementation of security classes, roles, profiles, menus and templates.

  • Collaborate with team members to assure accuracy and consistency between EMP and SER settings.

  • Monitor work associated with EMP and SER, facilitate completion of tasks and project deadlines.

  • Assures data integrity within URMC and affiliates EMP and SER data across the continuum.

Demonstrate effective communication and problem solving skills

  • Ensure customer needs are met/exceeded in relation to provisioning and provider processes and access.

  • Troubleshoot eRecord access issues; assess incidents and correct SER, provisioning or security issues.

  • Communicate functionality, methodology, and application issues to needed recipients (EMP/SER team, eRecord Build Team, external customers etc.). Assure issues and opportunities are brought to the attention of the team and eRecord Manager. Works cohesively with all partners to collaborate and resolve issues to enhance current processes. Works to continuously enhance existing processes for organizational enhancement.

Support and act as the primary resource dedicated to designing, building, testing, and activating security or provider (SER) build needs.

  • Partner with department and other teams to facilitate and coordinate security and provider (SER) needs across eRecord modules and care delivery groups.

  • Partner with applications and/or technical teams when system changes or enhancements may require SER and/or security administration utilities; process special or nonstandard requests.


Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering, and 4-5 years of related experience, preferably 2-3 years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.

  • Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, and coordinate projects

  • Strong communication skills

  • Demonstrated written and documentation skills

  • Experience coordinating and facilitating change management

  • Strong experience utilizing Microsoft office products (Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.)

  • Completion of Epic Security certification upon hire

  • Project management experience leading teams

  • Working knowledge of compliance, security and provider frameworks

  • Familiarity with provider data process and provisioning access to information assets

  • Experience with eRecord security and SER master files and coordination
