General Purpose:

Serves as principal assistant to the Chief Nursing Executive, Strong Memorial Hospital providing office supervision and coordinating support services with latitude for exercise of independent judgement and complex decision making. Responsible for managing day-to-day administrative operations and maintain strong relationships with faculty, leadership, staff and internal/external stakeholders.


Principal support for Chief Nursing Executive, Strong Memorial Hospital communicating to faculty, staff, students, and external contacts

  • Manage calendar
  • Coordinate annual meeting agenda and provide complete staffing for departmental meetings:
  • Nursing Practice Executive Council (twice weekly)
  • Professional Nursing Council (monthly)
  • Nurse Managers (weekly)
  • Retreats, as needed
  • Coordinate staff forum/unit meetings, as needed

Principal support for Nursing Practice Business Manager

  • Manage calendar
  • Coordinate meetings, as needed
  • Staff Night Staff Advisory Group meetings
  • Maintains departmental files, both miscellaneous and accounting
  • Coordinate distribution of budget/management reports
  • Update Nursing Practice unit listings and administrative office listing
  • Review department proofs for University and Rochester telephone directories
  • Maintain faculty/staff on-line directory for department
  • Supervise student worker

Assist with National Nurses Week (NNW) activities

  • Coordinate weekly NNW planning committee, act on committee requests

Order office supplies and equipment


Excellent attention to detail essential to this position. Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple priorities. College degree or equivalent combination of experience and training. Minimum of one year relevant administrative experience at senior support level.
