AC-6- Ambulatory Pediatric Hematology/Oncology - Registered Nurse-Level II
Full time position available (40 hours/week), weekdays (8:30 – 5:00)
An exciting multi-faceted nursing position is available in the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. This position will provide research and clinical nursing support for the division. The research part of the position supports clinical trials under the direction of the PI (Principal Investigator), in accordance with Protocols, Standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulatory guidelines. The clinical part of the position supports a variety of duties including telephone triage, telephone management based on written standard of care protocols of common ambulatory problems in the pediatric hematology/oncology patient population, patient and family education, coordination of care with the inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology team and with home health agencies, case management of select patients with complex medical conditions, and coordination of clinical research activities in the outpatient clinic. Must work collaboratively with all members of the health care team to provide compassionate quality care. Position requires strong assessment, interpersonal and communication skills. Requires an RN with current NYS license. Previous pediatrics experience desirable.
Requires a Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program and an active New York State RN license in good standing. Applicants will have a minimum of 6-12 months of RN experience. This position assumes the charge nurse role, actively participates in unit/service activities, supports co-workers, and assesses unit needs.
