The Breast and Breast/GYN Pathology position at the University of Rochester Medical Center is a one-year program that provides thorough exposure to diagnostic surgical pathology and multidisciplinary management of Breast and GYN disease. The main objective of the program is for the instructor to develop proficient diagnostic skills, an in-depth understanding of the implications of pathologic diagnoses in the management of cancer patients and a unique translational research experience. The instructor takes an active role in all diagnostic services either in Breast or in Breast and GYN, including intraoperative gross examinations, frozen sections and sign out of in-house and outside consultations. Based on evaluation of the candidate’s proficiency and performance, an opportunity for independent sign out is possible. To develop an insight into the multidisciplinary team approach to patient care, the instructor also participates at weekly multidisciplinary conferences and rotates in other disciplines including imaging, surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology at our Wilmot Cancer Institute. Elective rotations in other pathology subspecialties are also available for those interested. Clinical and/or translational research projects are tailored to meet the individual's interests and the instructor is encouraged to present his/her work at a national meeting.
Requirements: Applicants must be board certified or eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and be eligible for a license to practice medicine in New York State.
Number of appointments: One position is available each academic year (fellow’s choice of either Breast, or Breast and GYN).

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Senior Instructor or above based on academic expertise and accomplishment. We are recruiting for a candidate with outstanding clinical research skills to join the Department’s Sleep & Neurophysiology Research Laboratory (SNRL) and help to expand the lab’s research in two key areas: (1) dream research and (2) sleep health among individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The successful candidate will: serve as the Associate Director of the SNRL; develop a program of research in dreaming and dream engineering; and develop a program of research on sleep in the deaf population. This latter line of research will be integrated with the Department of Psychiatry’s clinical services in the Deaf Wellness Clinic.

1. Doctoral degree in neuroscience, biomedical science, cognitive psychology or a discipline related to sleep research.

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a licensed clinical psychologist with interest and experience in working with patients with psychotic disorders and other forms of serious mental illness. This faculty position is headquartered in the Department of Psychiatry’s Community Division and will have both clinical and educational responsibilities, with opportunities for research and scholarship in the faculty member’s area of expertise. This new position focuses on the provision of culturally responsive mental health evaluation and treatment to young adults within five years of their first psychotic episode, and the provision of treatment to adults with chronic psychotic disorders. Strong Ties is a site for a study of visual and cognitive remediation for people with schizophrenia. The position may also include supervision of post-doctoral fellows and psychology interns, depending on availability of interested trainees.
Minimum requirements include PhD or doctoral equivalent in psychology, postdoctoral training in adult or child and adolescent psychology, licensure in the state of New York, and experience in the field(s) of working with families and clients with serious mental illness, including psychosis.
The Department of Psychiatry provides a full continuum of care, including a comprehensive psychiatric emergency program; adult, geriatric and child services (inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization programs); addiction services; a variety of community-based treatment programs; specialized programs for Spanish-speaking patients and deaf/hard-of-hearing patients, and more. Strong collaborative relationships support our multidisciplinary educational mission and provide state-of-the-art training facilities that include ready access to the URMC Center for Experiential Learning and its simulation training resources. The Department also has a strong schizophrenia research program, at which a number of federally- and foundation-funded research projects are ongoing. The Optometrist can utilize his/her degree to the fullest in our academic environment. Completion of a residency is recommended but not required. The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center seek a board eligible Internal Medicine-Pediatrics physician with an interest in evidence-based clinical service and research in the area of care for adults with pediatric onset conditions (i.e. “Transition”) including autism spectrum disorder, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), congenital heart disease, metabolic disorders, spina bifida, sickle cell disease and cystic fibrosis for a full-time, 1 year faculty-appointed clinical fellowship training position in transition (i.e. “fellow”). This physician will be an integral member of the UR primary care team at the Complex Care Center, a clinical program of the Division of Transitional Care Medicine, an innovative interdisciplinary primary care setting targeting adults with pediatric onset conditions. As a part of their training they will have dedicated educational time and supervision from core Division of Transitional Care Medicine faculty. The Complex Care Center services currently include primary care, nutrition, respiratory therapy, behavioral health, care management, and dental services. The division and its clinical services offers numerous opportunities for clinical and health system research, regional engagement in health system reform, and teaching opportunities. This role offers the opportunity for protected time to learn from our core faculty, allied professionals (e.g. psychiatry, psychology, respiratory therapy, care management), and subspecialists to promote a career as an outpatient primary care, hospital-based care, inpatient consultation support, and workforce development for this patient population.
The position includes inpatient and outpatient transitional care medicine clinical service approximately 50%, educational academic rotations in pertinent specialties approximately 25%, and research for 25% of the year of training.

University of Rochester Medical Center is now accepting applications for its one-year, instructor position in Genitourinary Pathology. This one-year faculty appointment will include GU fellowship training that includes: 1) clinically oriented work which includes supervised sign out of genitourinary case material and presentation at clinical conferences; 2) clinical/pathologic research and/or more basic bench research; 3) teaching of residents and medical students. Supervised sign-out of cases may include transition to independent sign-out as able over time.
The University of Rochester Medical Center is a regional referral center with a strong Urology department. The Department of Pathology accessions over 50,000 surgical cases a year with a significant number of complex and unusual genitourinary specimens. The Urology and Pathology departments have a wide range of clinical and basic research activities with particular strengths in prostate and ladder cancer research. Many of the projects are collaborative between the two departments including the investigation of neuroendocrine differentiation in androgen independent prostate cancer.
