Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Responsible for imaging equipment systems and radiation oncology therapy systems maintenance, involving troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electromechanical and electronic imaging devices, training peers and other technicians. Band One: Independently is responsible for service on imaging equipment, including, but not limited to: x-ray, ultrasound, and computed radiography equipment. Under minimal supervision is responsible for service on imaging equipment, including but not limited to: mammography, nuclear medicine and angio/cath. Under general supervision, is responsible for service on imaging equipment and radiation therapy systems, including but not limited to: CAT scanners, linear accelerators and MRI scanners.

Band Two: Independently is responsible for service on imaging equipment and radiation oncology therapy systems including but not limited to: x-ray, ultrasound, computed radiology equipment, mammography, nuclear medicine, angio/cath, CAT scanners, linear accelerators, and MRI scanners.

Band Three: Independently is responsible for service on imaging equipment and radiation oncology therapy systems including but not limited to: x-ray, ultrasound, computed radiology equipment, mammography, nuclear medicine, angio/cath, CAT scanners, linear accelerators, and MRI scanners. Responsible for establishing daily work assignments, leads day to day work activities, and assists in personnel-related matters.

Movement in the bands is determined by Team Leader and Director of Clinical Engineering upon successful demonstration of knowledge and task proficiency as defined in the career ladder.

Typical Duties:

As Band One, Two and Three: 1. Performs safety/preventive maintenance inspections and services clinical imaging equipment, to determine operational status and compliance with manufacturers and industry technical standards and specifications. 2. Performs calibrations and performance verifications on clinical imaging equipment. 3. Troubleshoots, isolates equipment malfunctions and repairs clinical imaging equipment. 4. Responds to operator complaints about clinical imaging equipment malfunctions. 5. Performs equipment modifications when instructions, diagrams, prints, or schematics are provided for technical guidance. 6. Instructs other technicians in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment. 7. Assumes on-call responsibilities. As Band Two: In addition to duties of Band One: 1. Works on special projects, such as new equipment evaluations, recalls, incident reporting, assist in the design of areas where clinical equipment will be installed, assigned to departmental committees. 2. Performs limited team lead duties in the absence of the team leader. As Band Three: In addition to the duties of Band One and Band Two: 1. Lead team's day to day work activities to meet established goals, prioritize and assign work orders. 2. Responsible for personnel related activities for team led such as time reporting, performance evaluations, attendance records, hiring of new staff, disciplinary actions for team members. 3. Working with Clinical Engineering Management develops departmental goals, objectives and budgets.

Qualifications:

AAS degree in a field of technology; engineering, electronics, biomedical or instrumentation or an equivalent combination of experience and training. 3-4 years experience in directly related activities.
