University of Rochester Sleep Medicine @ South Clinton Avenue - Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Rochester, New York

Full time position available: typically Monday through Friday days; no holidays and no call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an APP to join the premier sleep center in the greater Rochester area. This position will help with our ever-increasing clinical need at the UR Medicine Adult Sleep Center. The focus of this position will be to improve access for patients and provide excellent clinical care by functioning as part of a team of dedicated providers and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with Physicians to provide outstanding care and improve patient access to sleep medicine services.
  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and flexibility are needed.
  • In time, the APP will be expected to see established patients in an unsupervised capacity and some new patients with the guidance of attending physicians.
  • Telephone/EMR follow up communications as required.
  • The APP will help to coordinate some of our quality assurance / quality improvement initiatives.

The faculty is multidisciplinary, and we have a progressive educational environment. An APP will be able to participate in all of our academic activities and conferences. Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner: Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. RN experience may count depending on the setting. Physician Assistant: Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Candidates must demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. Candidates fluent in Spanish desired.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Physician Assistant

Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program, licensure in good standing, and certified as a Registered Physician Assistant. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
