Responsibilities

*Position Summary: *

Lead fulfillment of design and project requests on the University's collaboration systems with primary emphasis on system and application administration, maintenance and development activities that are related to the University’s SharePoint service offering. The role also includes system and application administration of the University’s Collaboration Tool Suite (Office 365, Box, Confluence, Zoom, ListServ and Maestro, including gathering user requirements, deploying functionality, defining security requirements, delivering training, and implementing system upgrades and feature enhancements. This role may also include a combination of in-field design, customer training and support, along with base-office support for all collaboration service requests. Collaboration service requests are submitted for the River Campus, Medical Center, Highland Hospital, Eastman School of Music, Memorial Art Gallery and a variety of off-sites that are affiliated with the University of Rochester.

Proactively identifies where technology could address customer business needs and develops proposals for the customer; responds directly to customer requests for collaboration services.

Work with other analyst/programmers, designers and project managers to share knowledge and cross train on best practices and new techniques for supporting the Collaboration Tool Suite as well as fulfilling Collaboration Service Requests.

Serve as a role model to spread knowledge and customer service techniques.

This is a lead position that is intended to function independently to resolve complex issues caused by design problems, to support and deploy collaboration technology.

Responsibilities:

With general direction and with limited latitude for independent judgment and action:

System and Application Administration, Maintenance and Development specifically related to the University’s SharePoint Service Offering

  • Fulfills requests for SharePoint services, such as setup of new sites, lists, libraries, work flow, configuration, etc.
  • Responsibilities include requirements gathering, design, development / installation, technical documentation, end-user training, and on-going support
  • Maintain SharePoint environment, including installation, upgrades, and fixes to on premise and cloud based application platforms
  • Perform installation and maintenance activities for SharePoint 3rd Party Add-ons such as Metalogix Control Point, Metalogix Content Matrix, Virto Workflow, Kwizcom, LiveTiles, Sapiens and Bind Tuning Templates
  • Perform custom webpart development utilizing Javascript, Forms Development/Support, Cascade Style Sheet (CSS) and Visual Studio
  • Manage projects related to the use or deployment of SharePoint services
  • Develop and execute project plans and communications
  • Engage appropriate resources and coordinate work assignments, as needed
  • Deploy technology design and updates including specifications, development, test plans, test data setup and execution, promote to production, service verification and user training
  • Ensure that projects meet established customer commitments for deployment schedule, budget, and service quality
  • Provides SharePoint support to the Executive Support Lead as appropriate

  • Fulfills requests for collaboration technologies (Box, Confluence, O365, Zoom, etc.), such as setup of new sites, access to collaboration platforms, configuration of platforms, etc.
  • Responsibilities include requirements gathering, design, development / installation, technical documentation, and end-user training
  • Maintain collaboration services suite, including installation, upgrade, and fixes to on premise and cloud based application platforms
  • Manage projects related to the use or deployment of collaboration services
  • Develop and execute project plans and communications
  • Engage appropriate resources and coordinate work assignments, as needed
  • Deploy technology design and updates including specifications, development, test plans, test data setup and execution, promote to production, service verification and user training
  • Ensure that projects meet established customer commitments for deployment schedule, budget, and service quality

Stays abreast of new/cutting edge collaboration technologies (Video, Wireless, Unified Communications, etc.) and acts as a catalyst for knowledge transfer to team members.

Documentation and Training

  • Develops and maintains technical and user documentation on all collaboration services provided
  • Provides user training for collaboration tools, as needed
  • Mentors and provides knowledge transfer to junior team members

System and Application Administration and Maintenance of Distribution List Management Platform

  • Maintains distribution list management platform (Listserv and Maestro), including application maintenance and configuration
  • Acts as subject matter expert for complex deployments, upgrades, trouble shooting, integration with Identity Management, Active Directory and the On-line Directory

Other

  • Provides consistent, professional, and quality customer service.
  • Participates in cyclical activities such as the monthly billing process, annual budgeting process, audits, security reviews etc.
  • Participates in Core Technology Services Manager On-Call rotation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline such as Computer Science and 4-5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Writing and decision making skills
  • Computer skills that include Microsoft Office, or the equivalent.
  • SharePoint Central Admin experience and understanding
  • Frontend Design including Javascript, Forms Development/Support, Cascade Style Sheets (CSS) and Visual Studio
  • SharePoint Add-on experience including Metalogix Control Point, Metalogix Content Matrix, Virto Workflow, Kwizcom, LiveTiles, Sapiens and Bind Tuning Templates is preferred
  • Previous design experience with other collaboration technologies (Box, Confluence, O365, Zoom, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education field is preferred.
