Responsibilities

The Systems Programmer Co-Op position will report to the Director of Technical Infrastructure within the CHET organization at University of Rochester. This position will be responsible for troubleshooting, design, coding and configuration of various systems supporting the organizations clinical trials and research. Preferred candidates will utilize the following skills to deliver solutions:

  • Experience with networking including routers, switches
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and 7-layer networking model
  • Familiarity with firewall rulesets
  • HTML, .NET, Perl, PHP Administration and programming
  • Unix/Linux systems and operating systems
  • Understanding of networks, system configuration and troubleshooting
  • Active Directory administration, group policy and scripting
  • Understanding VMware, ESX administration, clustering
  • Familiarity with power-shell and writing login scripts
  • Experience with IIS/Apache web servers and services
  • Understanding of queries for relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, etc.)
  • Understanding of Java, JavaScript and UNIX shell scripting.
  • Experience with MS Active Directory, LDAP, relational databases, application servers, and access management systems.
  • Understanding of systems administration: DNS, storage systems, backup systems (EMC, Netbackup, VMware Snapshots

Qualifications:

Students in 2nd or 3rd year of Computer Science, Mathematics or Information Technology program. Experience in 2 or more programing languages and/or operating systems noted above.
