University of Rochester Cancer Center - Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Rochester, New York

PT position available (20 hours). Primarily days. No on call.

Responsibilities

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an integral and embedded member of the clinical team at the cancer center. He/Shehas latitude for initiative and independent judgment, and provides comprehensive, compassionate, person- and family-centered care to those patients referred for psychopharmacological assessment and treatment of common psychiatric disorders. Responsibilities include screening, psychosocial assessment, psychiatric diagnosis and medication management. The Psychiatric NP is also responsible for providing direct and indirect consultations to the oncology team (providers and nurses) as well as to the mental health therapist in the Cancer Center. The position will also require collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, administrators and other staff, and may also involve providing education and support to other clinicians and staff at the Cancer Center.NYS license as RN and Nurse Practitioner required. ANCC certification is required within 3 months of hire. Psychiatric nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Qualifications

Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
