University of Rochester Asst Professor in Rochester, New York
The Department of Biomedical Genetics, and the Wilmot Cancer Institute, School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Rochester, are seeking a scientist to fill a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor. The candidate will conduct research in cancer biology and genetics with an emphasis on epigenetics and cancer cell metabolism.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate evidence of a strong commitment to cancer research, as well as of independent research productivity, as exemplified by strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
Candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. or a MD/Ph.D. degree(s), with at least four years of postdoctoral training in one of the disciplines described above.
Candidate must be proficient in English with proven ability to write scientific documents.
Candidate should be skilled in modern molecular, genetic and/or cellular techniques.
A post–offer health assessment is required.
Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas is essential: cancer biology. Expertise in murine model systems is desirable.
Candidate should have a strong publication record, including first-authored papers. Evidence of successful experience with funding applications is especially favorable.
Candidate will be expected to develop extramural funding for their research and to assist with collaborative funding applications.
Candidate is expected to supervise student research, and to conduct independent research projects.
Candidate is also expected to assist in teaching at the graduate level and in the Department of Biomedical Generic’s educational mission.
Candidate is expected to serve on the Department, Wilmot Cancer Institute and URMC committees regarding research and educational goals of the institution.
